Book Meme

Ok, I'm seeing this on a lot of blogs today. I'll join in since I have a weird book within reach.

Book meme:

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the "coolest" book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

Eyeing the Flash: The Education of a Carvinal Con Artist by Peter Fenton. "While the pay was abysmal, the typical Ride Boy considered his job a plum, a prime opportunity to met the type of girl impressed by a man's ability to cause a carnival ride to turn in a circle or shake violently up and down."

Here's mine:

Literary Theory by Terry Eagleton. "Post-structuralism was a product of that blend of euphoria and disillusionment, liberation and dissipation, carnival and catastrophe, which was 1968."

Hi Michele. Thanks for stopping in. Sounds like a heavy book, but that's a fun line. We have a carnival theme going!

Dhalgren by Samuel Delany.

"The door was coated to look like wood, but a dent at knee level showed it was black metal."

No carnival here! BTW, I counted the first full sentence, skipped the unfinished sentence at the top of the page, from the page before.

How crazy. I actually remember that line from the book. I wrote in my journal, and wanted to steal that little description for something. I don't think I ever did.
