I'm starting some research for the next story, which among other things features werwolves. I'm finding lots of good non-fiction. Myths, how werwolves are made, how to kill them, their general behaviors. My personal favorite is an Eastern Russian superstition to always sleep with your shoes on, otherwise a Werewolf might come along and make a little snack out of your toes.
But I'm not having much luck on the fiction route. I'm looking for any suggestions on good fiction that use werwolves. There's a ton out there on vamps, but I'm having trouble finding much of anything dealing with their fuzzy little opponents. Vamps certainly have the whole romantic mystique thing going, but it's hard to beat a werewolf on pure, unbridled, chaotic aggression. I would have thought there'd be more content out there. I'll keep looking, and post anything I find. And thanks in advance if anyone has pointers.
Excelsior.

Gosh, I'm having a hard time thinking of any fiction with werewolves, for some reason. Yeah, vamps definitely do get all the glamor, don't they?
I do happen to think "An American Werewolf in London" was one of the most awesome horror movies ever made -- seeing how it had a little bit of everything. But a fictional parallel? I'm coming up blank...
It seems this is a niche you're destined to fill! :)
That is a good movie. I've thought of lots of movies, but no novels. I might poke around amazon and see if there's an anthology of some sort.
Not really what you're looking for, but my grandmother lived next door to a werewolf. (This is Transylvania we're talking about.)
When I was four or five, I was playing at the edge of the village one evening, when a shepherd warned me to rush home because the werewolf might get me.
They're called "strigoi" and sometimes erroneously translated as vampires. Strigoi are more likely to go after sheep but will attack a human in their way.
I can't think of any fictional examples of the werewolf either. Apologies.
Now THAT is cool -- no fictional werewolves, but a real one! :) That's awesome...
A great factoid. I'll have to find a way to use it.
