I'm about halfway done, but I think I'm far enough that I can say it's a very good book.<br /><br />Maktaaq- I don't know if he ever wrote in Chinese. His bios all state that he came to the U.S. to attend Brandeis, and decided to stay after the Tienamen (sp?) Square atrocity. He started publishing in U.S. in English in the early 90's, and his novel <I>Waiting</I> won the National Book Award.<br /><br />I wish I could read Chinese so I could read the Monkey fables in the original language.
